The Etruscan butto

A piece of history beneath your feet

Set into the loft's floor is a butto of Etruscan origin, reworked in the Middle Ages. From above, through the glass, you can see amphorae, plates and grave goods, lit at any hour of the day by a motion-sensor light. It is not a display-case replica: it is the heart of the house.

Love this place! It's comfortable, cozy and has everything you need for a great visit to Tarquinia! Easy to get around, easy to park. I love the Etruscan feel and experience! And being able to see Etruscan artifacts and an original Il Butto right through the floor really makes it special! I highly recommend this place and the service by the owner was excellent. An authentic experience!
